ALEA SIMPLEX DICE

…are premium resin dice with a simplified arrangement of colors, usually just one, that hearkens back to the dice days of old.  A time when dice were simpler, colors weren’t blended, and layering wasn’t possible.  Through it all, beauty was possible, and pearlescence and a little sparkle was above and beyond.  We’ve gone back for this set and knocked it out of the park.  We hope you enjoy its simple beauty and shine.

This Alea Simplex set is designed after our 2nd-born son, Galahad.  It bears the shield of Sir Galahad on the high numbers, the knight that completed the quest of the Holy Grail.  Both the grail and the shield were brought to Christendom by Joseph of Arimathea at the end of his life to protect them from destruction by Roman persecution.

Generations later, King Arthur was set upon the quest to find the Holy Grail.  Three more generations later, Sir Galahad, illicit and abandoned son of Sir Lancelot, rose through the difficulties his parents handed him, clung close to Jesus and the Catholic Church, and chose purity and chivalry above all else.  A dedicated virgin and humble soul, through all the trials, tumult, and civil wars he endured as an adult, his purity and humility found him worthy to complete the long sought quest.  In a vision Jesus revealed to him the Holy Grail, and appointed Galahad a priest.  On the spot Galahad celebrated the Holy Mass for King Arthur and his few remaining loyal nights, Sir Bors and Sir Percival.

Legend has it that in the following years he asked only that he would not have to suffer death in this life, and several pieces of art depict him being assumed into Heaven like Enoch, Elijah, and Mother Mary before him.

Whatever you make of this awesome legend, it leaves “Galahad” a boss level name for a son.  May you be inspired by both of their stories.
