Who plays in each division
The League Division is for returning players from the Return to Araali league. The Challenger Division is for entrants who did not participate in that league. “New entrant” describes league participation, not Kill Team experience; experienced tournament players may enter the Challenger Division.
Returning league players must use the same Kill Team they used during the league. Challenger Division players choose one eligible Kill Team for the tournament. All players keep that team for all four rounds, with legal operative selections and other match-by-match choices permitted by the game rules.
Divisional format and standings
Rounds one to three
Players compete within their own division for the first three rounds. This draft proposes random Round 1 pairings, followed by Swiss pairings within each division for Rounds 2 and 3. Repeat opponents should be avoided where the division size permits.
Tournament standings begin afresh on the day. League results do not add points to tournament standings. After Round 3, the highest-ranked eligible player in each division advances to the championship match.
Round four and the championship
The League Division leader faces the Challenger Division leader in Round 4. The championship winner receives first place; the other finalist receives second place.
All remaining players also play a fourth round. This draft proposes cross-division placement pairings in division-rank order, starting with second versus second. Where division numbers differ, remaining players are paired by record, avoiding repeat opponents where possible. A loss does not eliminate a player from the day’s remaining games.
A division with fewer than two entrants cannot provide the intended divisional competition. Uneven division sizes, odd player counts and byes require a published pairing and scoring procedure before registration closes.
Proposed standings and tiebreakers
Proposed Tournament Points are 3 for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss. Within each division, rank players first by Tournament Points and then by cumulative Primary Op Points, retaining the league’s first tiebreaker. Further tiebreakers are to be confirmed before the event.
The two championship finalists occupy first and second place regardless of other players’ cumulative scores. This draft proposes ranking all other players together after four rounds using the published Tournament Points and tiebreaker sequence.
Procedures to confirm before play
The final pack must specify bye points and tiebreaker scores, how unresolved division ties are broken, and how a drawn championship game produces a winner. It must also specify late arrival penalties and how unfinished games are scored at the two-hour time limit. These procedures must be announced before they can affect advancement or prizes.
Prizes and player conduct
Six awards are available across the tournament. Both divisions are eligible for Best Model, Best Kill Team, Wooden Spoon and Best Opponent. The award procedures below are proposed for organizer confirmation; prize items and values will be announced separately.
First place and second place
First place is awarded to the winner of the Round 4 championship match. Second place is awarded to the other championship finalist. Winning a division earns a place in that match; the final determines these two prizes.
Best Model
Enter one model from the Kill Team you are playing at the tournament. This award recognizes the best individual model. Proposed judging criteria are painting quality, detail, basing and overall presentation.
Best Kill Team
Enter the Kill Team you are playing at the tournament for a separate team painting award. Proposed judging criteria are painting quality, consistency across the team, basing and overall presentation.
Proposed procedure for both painting awards: entries are judged by the organizer and must have been painted by the entrant. Commissioned work is not eligible. The same team may be entered for Best Kill Team while one of its models is entered for Best Model. Judging arrangements, display time and painting requirements for general participation remain to be confirmed.
Wooden Spoon
Awarded to the lowest-ranked eligible player in the combined final standings. To qualify, a player must remain for all four rounds and play every assigned game; an organizer-assigned bye does not disqualify them. Deliberately losing, manipulating scores or attempting to tank games makes a player ineligible. The final tiebreaker sequence determines any tie for last place.
Best Opponent
Proposed procedure: after Round 4, each player votes once for the opponent who gave them the best game experience. Consider fairness, communication, rules clarity, attitude and sportsmanship. Players may vote only for someone they actually faced and may not vote for themselves. If tied, use the league’s approach: the tied player with the lower final standing receives the award.
All six award categories will be presented. Whether one player may receive multiple awards, and any prize reassignment procedure, are to be confirmed.
Shipping: Orders are typically processed within 1–2 business days. Pre-order items ship once all items in the order are available.
